"The Migration Special" gives clients a unique opportunity to view the Great Migration of wildebeest and plains game from the Tanzanian side ! In our opinion it is the perfect Safari for any Migration enthusiast who may have witnessed the world famous Mara Crossings but not yet seen it in the Serengeti ! The Grumeti River offers the perfect setting. We have also included other highlights in this Safari ! Arusha National Park with its enchanting tropical forest, the scenic Momella Lakes & the famous strangular Fig Tree as well as plenty of wildlife ! Further, the 08th Wonder of the Natural World, Ngorongoro Crater ! The Best Period for this Safari Beginning of May to end of June ! Afterwards, we would recommend a change in location of accommodation to follow the Wildebeest to the North. During May and June the Gnus follow the Rains in search of pasture in the Western corridor of Serengeti. What ist the wildebeest migration It is the last wildlife migration that happens on this planet ! Every year, almost 2 million wildebeest, zebra, eland and gazelle undertake the great movement between the Southern Serengeti Plains in Tanzania to the Masai Mara plains in Kenya. Thousands lose their lives by either drowning in the rivers, breaking legs during neck breaking jumps or falling prey to hungry predators. The most common predators are the crocodiles, who in the time between May and June, are anticipated to be gathered around the Grumeti River, waiting to make a feast out of this event. Accommodation for the Migration special itinerary We have recommended accommodation that is bound to accord you intimacy, authenticity as well as a feeling of 'home away from home'. We have allocated ample time in each park in order to enjoy all highlights that can be seen to the fullest. NB: the Migration moves on to the North between end of June to Mid / End August. We therefore recommend alternative accommodation in the North at this time of year. Accommodation of Grumeti Luxury Tented Camp will be replaced by Lobo Wildlife Lodge or Migration Camp, depending on your budget.

DAY 01: ARUSHA - SHANGAZI HOUSE
On your arrival at Kilimanjaro International Airport, you will be met by your personal safari guide and transferred to your hotel for overnight. Depending on your arrival time, we can book dinner for you. Overnight at the intimate SHANGAZI HOUSE (HB)
DAY 02: THE ARUSHA NATIONAL PARK – SHANGAZI HOUSE
After a scrumptious breakfast, you will depart for Arusha National Park located only 2 kms from Shangazi House. You have the option of a full day game drive with picnic lunch or alternatively do a morning and an afternoon game drive. Overnight at SHANGAZI HOUSE (FB)
DAY 03: LAKE MANYARA NATIONAL PARK –NGORONGORO FARM HOUSE (approx. 2.5 hrs driving time from Arusha)
After breakfast, your Safari goes on to the scenic Lake Manyara National Park. You will have an option of going for a deliciously prepared African meal in the village of Mto Wa Mbu, then a cultural walk into the colorful, commercial village with different tribes. (approx. 2 – 3 hrs) Giving you an opportunity to be an African, by meeting the indigenous people living here, and also participating in their activities.
Optional: if you prefer to forfeit the walk due to physical constraints you can choose a game drive in Lake Manyara National Park instead. Late afternoon transfer to Karatu, located foot of Ngorongoro Conseravation Area. Dinner and overnight at NGORONGORO FARM HOUSE (HB)
DAY 04: NGORONGORO CRATER + half day Crater Tour
Early morning departure, with picnic lunch, into the world renowned Ngorongoro Crater. You can enjoy half a day's game viewing on the magnificent Crater Floor. Return later in the day to your lodge to rest and relax. Dinner and overnight at NGORONGORO SERENA /SOPA SAFARI LODGE (FB)
DAY 05: SERENGETI NATIONAL PARK – Seronera Area (4 hrs drive)
Depart early morning after breakfast for the famous Ol Duvai Gorge, the so-called "Cradle of Mankind". Arrive in time for lunch at Serengeti Serena Safari Lodge or Mbuzi Mawe Luxury Tented Camp. Afternoon game drive at your convenience. Dinner and overnight at SERENGETI SERENA SAFARI LODGE/ MBUZI MAWE LUXURY CAMP (FB)
DAY 06: Full day SERENGETI NATIONAL PARK – Seronera Area
Full day in Serengeti with unlimited game drives. You will have an option of packed breakfast or/and lunch as per your preference. Kindly let your guide know what you wish to opt for so that any packed meals can be ordered the day before. Alternatively, you may prefer a morning and afternoon game drive. However, pls. keep in mind that we offer you unlimited game drives with your choice of duration & number of drives.

DAY 07 - 09: Full day SERENGETI NATIONAL PARK – Western Corridor
Full day in Serengeti with unlimited game drives. Packed breakfast and/or packed lunch as you prefer or any number of game drives. Meals and overnight at GRUMETI LUXURY TENTED CAMP (FB)
DAYS 10: DEPARTURE SERENGETI – onward arrangements as per choice
You will enjoy a last morning game drive in the Park and then depart for your on-ward travel arrangements. You may continue with a direct flight for a beach extension to Zanzibar or alternatively enjoy an extension to the Southern Parks of Tanzania. You may opt to drive back to Arusha (approx. 6 hrs driving time) in which case you will enjoy lunch en-route. Alternatively (at an extra cost) you can fly to Arusha from where we will transfer you to the airport for your outbound flight.
